A George III Period Embossed Card Roundel for the Duke of Wellington. Housed in an ebonised circular frame with suspension loop. The text on the embossed card reads ' WELLINGTON GENERALISSIME'. This is French for Generalissimo, referring to Wellington as general of the armies, or supreme leader of the armies in a coalition. Probably dating to the years following the end of Napoleon's campaigns.
In very good condition with no apparent damage to the roundel. The reverse has previously been opened and can still be opened to access the embossed card.
Approximate weight is 109 grams.
Approximate frame dimensions are 13.4 cm diameter and 2 cm depth.
