The inkstand is raised on four ornate bracket feet with a gadrooned border richly detailed with scrolls and foliage. There are three original cut glass bottles (partly diamond cut) to store ink and pounce \/ sand. Two of the silver bottle covers have access for dip pens, whilst the third is a silver taperstick holder with silver snuffer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe inkstand base, bottle holders, bottle covers and taperstick holder are all hallmarked for Sheffield 1817 by S. C. Younge \u0026amp; Co. Some of the makers marks are rubbed. The snuffer is hallmarked for Birmingham 1836 by Robert Mitchell.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApproximate total silver weight is 742 grams or 23.8 troy ounces.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApproximate total weight, including glass, is 1.147 kilos.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApproximate dimensions are 23 cm length, 16.5 cm width and 13.5 cm height.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn good condition with age related surface wear.
