Georgian, George IV, Pair of Old Sheffield Plate Entree Dishes & Covers on Twin Handled Warming Stands, circa 1820 - 1830. Each cover features the Marital Arms of James Dickson & Margaret Huntley. A full copy of the heraldry report will be given to the buyer.
Of rounded rectangular form with gadrooned rims and vine stock handles. Raised on four foliate and scroll feet. The naturalistic twin handles with wonderful foliate decoration. Features rolled over silver edges and rubbed in silver squares. The handles on the covers can be removed and the covers used as further serving dishes.
Condition is very good with moderate to high surface wear, commensurate with age and for their use as serving dishes. Scratches to the bases of the entree dishes and high wear to their undersides as per the photos. Only the occasional hint of copper bleed. These have not been replated and are with their original silver sheet. The dishes and covers are numbered, but all are different. This is quite normal as there were often many pieces in a household's set.
Approximate weight for the pair is 7.3 kilos.
Approximate dimensions are 34 cm length, 23 cm width and 17 cm height.
