The inkstand is raised on four copper feet with two copper handles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMade from the 1897 Blackpool Wreck of HMS Foudroyant. In June 1897 she was towed to Blackpool North Pier where people could pay to go aboard and visit. Later that same month she was forced ashore during a violent storm, damaging the pier as well. The Blackpool lifeboat rescued all 27 crew.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFoudroyant had a long and successful career serving Nelson as his flagship from June 1799 until June 1801. She had 17 years in active service and her last years were spent as a school ship.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere were attempts to refloat Foudroyant, but eventually her guns were removed and she was sold. She broke up during another storm in December 1897. Numerous products were made from items salvaged from the wreck.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eApproximate weight is 2.75 kilos.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eApproximate dimensions are 33 cm length, 21 cm width and 16 cm height.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn good condition. The stable splits to the underside and the circular shaped mark on the main top surface are quite possibly the state that the oak was originally recovered in. Both ink bottles with high glass wear and nibbles visible when the caps are removed as per the photo. Minor shallow chip to the base rim of the blue ink bottle. Ink staining to both bottles. The ink bottles possibly replacements as there is a little gap when placed into their circular holders.
