Circa 1810 - 1820.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJoseph Boulderson (1764 - 1828) was born into a maritime family and went to sea at a young age. When only 18 years old he commanded a Falmouth based packet. From about 1786 until 1828 Boulderson was employed by the Honourable East India Company (HEIC). \u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eOn 17 Oct 1792 at the age of 28 he was sworn in as a Captain in the HEIC's Maritime (Naval) Service and for the decade from 1792-1802 commanded East Indiamen supporting the company's trade for which it held a monopoly on all British trade with India and China. On his second last voyage to India, when in command of the \u003ci data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eMarquis of Landsdown, \u003c\/i\u003ethe 4th Mate was his nephew, John, who in about 1800 had assumed command of the family's Falmouth based packet.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eIn 1804 he was appointed Superintendent of the London Docks. In 1808, he returned to the HEIC as one of that company's most senior executives as the Master Attendant of Shipping. Scalloped rim with applied shell and foliate decoration. Very fine rolled over edges.
