
A substantial Tiffany & Co. silver lidded tankard jug of large proportion. Features an ornate handle with thumb rest and heart terminal. The body of the jug features two bands of Greek Key pattern and a monogram to one side. The spreading pedestal foot is reeded, as is the lid.
Inscribed to the underside of the base: "Gift from S.E.P. March 24th 1856".
Hallmarked: Tiffany & Co, English Sterling 925-1000, 550 Broadway. The maker's mark is that of J.C. Moore & Son, dating it to between 1854 and 1869.
I can see no damage, faults, or repairs with this tankard jug. It is in splendid order.
Approximate weight is 1.091 kilos, or just over 35 troy ounces.
