Victorian Fitted Three Tier Mahogany Cased Set of Silver Dessert Cutlery For Eighteen. The handles are of double struck modified shell and thread pattern. Although there are two different years of manufacture all of the knives and forks are identical and clearly one set.
12 knives & 12 forks are hallmarked for Sheffield 1853 by Aaron Hadfield (sometimes spelt Hatfield). The remaining 6 knives & 6 forks are hallmarked for Sheffield 1847 by Aaron Hadfield. Each knife blade and fork tine/stem are hallmarked. The handles and collars are one piece and all are hallmarked with the maker's mark, Queen's head duty mark, Sheffield Crown mark and lion passant.
In excellent order with very light surface wear to the knives and forks. All of the blades and tines are in superb condition. The handles are all in very good order with light surface wear. The fitted case is in very good order apart from a crack across the top surface.
