A faded inscription to the cover reads:

'TO LIEUTENANT E. P. YOUNG. ROYAL NAVY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS MARRIAGE 11TH DECEMBER 1928 FROM LOUIS MOUNTBATTEN'. 

Louis Mountbatten was promoted to a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy during 1928.

Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma (1900 – 1979), was known until 1917 as Prince Louis of Battenberg and then, until 1946, as Lord Louis Mountbatten. In 1947 he became known as Viscount Mountbatten of Burma. He was a member of the Royal family and a Royal Navy Officer. He was a maternal uncle of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. During the Second World War he was Supreme Allied Commander, South East Asia Command. He was the last Viceroy of India and in 1979 was assassinated by the IRA in Ireland.

In very good condition with light surface wear commensurate with age. A couple of light pressure marks to the right hand side rear corner.
