Admiral of the Fleet Sir David Richard Beatty, 1st Earl Beatty, GCB, OM, GCVO, DSO, PC. Ceramic Bust, After W. H. Cooper and by Birks, Rawlins & Co. (Stoke on Trent), Trading as Savoy China. The base features the town crest of Inverkeithing and this type of ceramic was known as crested china. The bust itself is of a similar texture to parianware. 

Admiral Beatty (1871 - 1936) served in the Mahdist War and the conflict resulting from the Boxer Rebellion. He fought at the Battle of Heligoland Bight in 1914 and the Battle of Dogger Bank in 1915. In 1916 he commanded the cruiser fleet at the Battle of Jutland. Later in the war he succeeded Admiral Jellicoe as Commander in Chief of the Grand Fleet.
