Calcutta Scottish, British Indian Army, Silver Cigar Box. The Calcutta Scottish were a regiment of volunteers of Scottish descent. It was raised in 1914 as an infantry regiment of the British Indian Army and was disbanded in 1947, following independence.

Of rectangular form with a domed and filled cover, applied with the regimental badge. A presentation inscription to the front reads 'To Colour Sergt T.H.L Brown from members of F. Coy 1917'. A cedar wood interior and shell like material to the underside of the filled base.

In good condition with one small crease to the right side of the cover. Light pressure marks and dints mainly to the rear with one at the front. One larger crease to the front right hand corner.

Hallmarked for Birmingham 1916 by Charles S. Green & Co. Ltd.

Approximate weight is 1.47 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 23 cm length, 15.5 cm width and 8 cm height.
