American General Pershing Bust Cast Iron Money Box, circa 1919 - 1920. These were painted by disabled and injured serviceman in convalescant homes.

General of the Armies John Joseph Pershing (1860 - 1948), known as 'Black Jack', was Commander of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) during World War One. He resisted pressure for his forces to be integrated within the British and French armies and retained the AEF as a single unit under his command. He faced criticism for his actions on Armistice Day where he continued with his plans resulting in 3500 American casualties by 11 am.

In excellent condition with little paint loss. The screw mechanism, to unlock the box, is in working order/
