A George III Set of Four Old Sheffield Plate Cluster Column Stem Candlesicks, Square Drip Trays/Nozzles & Stiff Leaf Capitals, circa 1770. The removable square nozzles with ribbon and reeded detail. The bases with a later green felt covering. This design was illustrated in Gordon Crosskey's book, Old Sheffield Plate: A History of the 18th Century Plated Trade.

Approximate weight of all four candlesticks is 4.8 kilos.

Approximate dimensions of one are 32.5 cm height and 13 cm base length/width.

Three of the four nozzle/drip tray tubes marked H T & Co. for Henry Tudor & Co. Three of the four bases have very rubbed maker's marks and nothing is visible on the fourth.

In good condition with age related wear, light pressure marks and copper bleed. The sticks all stand straight. There is solder residue at the base of the columns. Some loose pitch can be heard moving inside the sticks. One nozzle/drip tray tube is a later replacement and is made of copper. Two of the nozzles/drip trays with higher wear.
