Georgian, George III, silver swing handle navette shaped basket. Of openwork form with a pierced gallery collet foot. The swing handle functions fully and stays in the upright position. There is a central monogram to the base of the basket.
Hallmarked to the foot for Sheffield 1791, by Richard Morton and Co. The handle is not marked, but because of the design there is no solid area for hallmarking.
In very good condition with moderate surface wear commensurate with age. There has been a silver patch repair to the pierced detail of the collet foot, as shown in the last photograph.
Approximate weight is 550 grams or 17.6 troy ounces.
Approximate dimensions are 33 cm length, 24 cm height (with handle in upright position) and 23.5 cm width.
