Inscribed to the Cover, 'Presented to Samuel Langham Esq as a trifling acknowledgement for many kind favours received by his friend. Wm Greet Lieutenant. Royal Navy 1846'. Lieutenant William Greet was the Commander of HMS Perseus and HMS Crocodile, both moored off the Tower of London.
Hallmarked for London 1845 by Edward Edwards.
