
Sir Francis Leggatt Chantrey RA (1781 - 1841) and Sir Edwin Henry Landseer RA (1802 - 1873) Gold Mounted Lacquered Circular Snuff Box with a White Metal Portrait Profile Relief of Chantrey by William Bain. The Border of the Box with Presentation Inscription from Chantrey to Landseer. Housed in a Fitted Case and Circa 1825 - 1840. Chantrey was the Leading Portrait Sculptor in Regency Britain, with George IV on Horseback, in Trafalgar Square, being one of his most notable. Landseer was Best Known for his Sculpture of the Lions at the Base of Nelson's Column, Trafalgar Square and his Paintings of Animals.

Approximate box dimensions are 8.2 cm diameter and 3.4 cm height.
In good condition with no glass, or unmarked white metal portrait damage. The unmarked gold rim of the cover has a small crease to the side. The box has no losses and the inner rim is intact. The interior of the cover has high wear and some tearing in the area under where the portrait is. There is also some writing scratched into the cover interior. There is a small loss to the shellac style border, between the two bands of unmarked gold. The is just above the name ‘Chantrey’.
