
The Death of George IV Cased & Glazed Medallion, after William Bain. The medal was struck in 1830 to commemorate the death of the king. The medal is almost certainly silver and possibly uniface (showing only the obverse). The original medal with obverse and reverse can be seen in the British Museum online collection. The leather covered case with hinge opening and cream silk interior.
In excellent condition with no glass damage. Some wear to the exterior of the original fitted case and only one fastening hook actually fastens.
Approximate total weight is 30 grams.
Approximate case dimensions are 5.7 cm diameter and 1.5 cm depth.
Approximate diameter of visible area of medallion is 47 mm.
