The Duke of Wellington Medal Box Containing Paper Roundels Commemorating British Victories in the Peninsular War, circa 1815.
There is a one sided paper roundel, loose, in the cover and one, also loose in the base. There are also twelve, two sided, paper roundels attached to each other. A total of twenty six battles are commemorated.
The earliest battle commemorated is Rolica & Vimeiro on August 17th and 21st 1808. The last battle commemorated is Waterloo on June 18th 1815. All roundels are shown in the photos.
Approximate weight is 29 grams.
Approximate medal box dimensions are 4.6 cm diameter and 0.7 cm depth.
In good condition with some verdigris and wear to the copper box medal. Age related wear and discolouration to the paper roundels.
