Napoleon Bonaparte and the Battles of Friedland and Dresden, Ceramic Mask Head Sugar Vase & Cover with Transfer Printed Battle Scenes and Napoleonic Eagles. Circa 1813.
The Battle of Freidland took place in 1807 in East Prussia, in what is now Russia. The French forces, led by Napoleon, defeated the Russian army under General Levin August von Bennigsen. This victory led to the Treaty of Tilsit. The battle was a key engagement in the Napoleonic Wars, specifically the War of the Fourth Coalition.
The 1813 Battle of Dresden saw Napoleon's forces come up against Austria, Prussia, and Russia, who had formed the Sixth Coalition to challenge French dominance in Europe. The French won the battle, despite being heavily outnumbered, but the coalition did not collapse.
