Georgian, George IV, Pair of Silver Candlesticks. Of plain form with baluster stems on spreading circular and loaded bases. Gadrooned detail to the bases, shoulders and removable nozzles. An identical, cotemporary, monogram to each base and removable nozzle.
Each candlestick is hallmarked to the base for Sheffield 1826 by Smith, Tate & Co.(Smith, Tate, Hoult & Tate). The removable nozzles are further part hallmarked with the maker's mark, lion passant and kings head duty mark.
This pair are in wonderful condition with very light surface wear. The bases and stems are free of dents and creases. These are a sturdy and squat pair of candlesticks. The original removable nozzles a little loose in their sockets and some loose interior filling. The bases uncovered (green baize can be applied by the customer if desired).
