Georgian, George III, Old Sheffield Plate pierced cake basket with bale handle. Of navette form and raised upon a pierced oval foot. The bale handle features a vacant cartouche to the centre. Circa 1780 - 1800. These baskets can be used for bread, cakes or fruit. The underside of the top rim features rolled over silver edges.
In very good condition with light surface wear commensurate with age. No losses to pierced detail. No dents or creases. The handle stays in the upright position when lifted and pivots well. Some light pitting and ever so slightly misshapen rims.
