A Pair of Early George III Old Sheffield Plate Candlesticks. The pair are in the style of tapersticks with narrow stems and without nozzles. The square bases and shoulders with ornate flared detail.
This pair were from the Gordon Crosskey Collection and attributed to Tudor & Co, circa 1765, although I can see no marks. Gordon Crosskey was the author of "Old Sheffield Plate, A History of the Trade in 18th Century Plate".
In excellent condition with light surface wear commensurate with age. Light copper bleed to the raised areas.
Approximate dimensions of one are 24cm height and 11 cm base length / width.
Approximate weight for the pair is 974 grams.
