19th Century Duke of Wellington Snuff Box. Formed of bronzed spelter with a bois durci interior. The two halves held together with a screw thread. The top of the snuff box embossed with a bust of Arthur Duke of Wellington in military uniform. The base with mourners at his tomb above the Waterloo battle honour.
This snuff box has utilised the Death of Wellington medal, produced by Allen & Moore of Birmingham in 1852. The reverse (base) inscribed "Britannia Mourns Her Hero Now At Rest". Victory kneels at his tomb while placing a wreath, Britannia weeps and the Lion of Waterloo reclined by the side of the tomb.
In excellent condition with no losses. Age related patina to the medal surface.
