George VI Silver Cigarette Box, Presented to Commander Harold West, Royal Navy. The interior is cedar lined and the filled base covered with black leather.
The cigarette box was presented by the Commodore and Ward Room Officers of the Royal Navy Chatham Barracks in 1946. Lieutenant Harold West was serving on HMS EScort in 1939 when he was involved in the rescue of survivors from SS Athenia, a British liner. SS Athenia was the first British ship sunk by the Germans in World War Two.
Hallmarked for London 1945 by Comyns & Sons Ltd.
In excellent condition with a slight crease to one bottom corner and one very shallow pressure mark to one end.
