Duke of Wellington Copper Relief Plaque. Of oval electrotype form with the crest and motto for the Duke of Wellington to the top. The centre with a portrait of the Duke of Wellington with the script "His Grace Arthur Duke of Wellington KC". Wellington is flanked by trumpet playing winged angels. Two lozenges depict battle scenes. At the bottom Victory is flanked by a lion and unicorn. Gadrooned detail to the border.
Although unsigned, this was designed by Emile Jeannest, for Elkington. He worked with Ellkington from 1853 to 1857.
In very good condition with moderate surface wear commensurate with age. The plaque dotted with mounting holes. There may have been a mounting border at the very edge of the plaque initially and this may have had the maker's mark.
Approximate weight is 275 grams.
