A Victorian Neoclassical silver plate on copper circular inkstand. Raised on a circular foot with a central covered glass inkwell. The central field embossed with a chariot drawn by four horses. Bordered by frieze comprising six figural Olympian god roundels, flanked by griffons.

In excellent order with warm copper bleed emerging through the silver plate. There is movement in the cover hinge, but it is sound. No damage to what would appear to be the original glass liner. Free of dents, creases and splits.

Marked to the underside by Elkington & Co. with the date letter M for 1873.

Approximate weight is 645 grams.

Approximate dimensions are 19 cm diameter and 4 cm height.
