A Large Mid Victorian Neoclassical Silver Plated Inkwell. The spreading circular base with chased scrolls and part fluted detail. The base further adorned with mask heads. Winged mythical beasts connect the cylindrical body to the base. The cylindrical body adorned with neoclassical relief detail. The domed, lift off, cover with figural finial.
Marked to the underside with an applied lozenge for Elkington, Mason & Co. "Fine Art Manufacture", circa 1860.
In excellent condition free of dents, creases and repairs. Some loss of silver plate, as per the photographs. The inkwell liner is probably a replacement.
Approximate weight is 1.03 kilos.
