Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Entree Dish & Cover, circa 1820. The cover with a rubbed in silver square containing the marital arms of Rooper and Bonfoy. Heavily gadrooned detail throughout and a lip around the base for staning in a warming dish. The handle is removable and the cover can be stored within the base.

The marital arms commemorate the marriage of John Rooper, of Berkhamsted Castle and Elizabeth Bonfoy of Abbots Ripton. A heraldry report accompanies this item.

In very good condition with moderate surface wear, light scratches and light pressure marks commensurate with age and use as a serving dish. One or two areas of light copper bleed.

Approximate weight is 2.15 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 30 cm length, 22 cm width and 13 cm height.
