Silver Plated & Fluted Monteith Bowl, with Lion Mask Handles. Of small proportions and of circular form with part fluted detail. An ornate rim with scroll and vine detail. A vacant cartouche to one side, surrounded by foliate, vine and scroll detail. The interior is gilded and the bowl is raised on a circular foot. Monteith bowls were originally used to cool glasses in iced water. This smaller size of monteith would be perfect as a sugar bowl.
In excellent condition with moderate surface wear. Some pitting to the gilded interior. Hardly any loss of silver plate. This is most proably Swedish and dates to circa 1960 - 1980.
