William IV period, Old Sheffield Plate soup tureen. Features an ogee cover with naturalistic handle. Raised on four scroll feet with scroll and foliate shoulder decoration. The twin handles and borders with scrolling acanthus.There are rubbed in silver squares  with engraved detail. The crest is for Adams of Somerset. Features rolled over silver edges.

Marked to the underside of the cover for J. Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, circa 1835.

In excellent order with moderate surface wear commensurate with age. Free of dents and splits. 

Approximate weight is 3 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 38 cm length, 24.5 cm width and 23 cm height.
