Field Marshal Sir Alured Clarke GCB (1744 - 1832). In Command of British troops in Georgia in 1780. Appointed Governor of Jamaica in 1784 and Lieutenant Governor of Lower Canada in 1790. He was later Commander-in-Chief Madras Army 1795, Commander-in-Chief Bengal Army 1797, Acting Governor-General of India 1797 and Commander-in-Chief India 1798. A set of 24 George III silver handled, thread pattern, table knives with carbon steel blades.
Each is hallmarked for London 1801 by Moses Brent and features the crest of Field Marshal Sir Alured Clarke KB.
In good condition with secure handles bearing only light pressure marks. One knife blade is a replacement and is noticeably larger, bearing a 'London Made' mark. The blades are of carbon steel and are extremely sharp, so please handle with care. Not for dishwasher use. The blades with pitting and wear commensurate with age and use.
