Georgian, George III, Cased Set of Eighteen Crested Silver & Mother of Pearl Knives. Housed within their original oak and burgundy velvet interior fitted box. The knives are probably for first course, dessert or pastry use.
The crest is that of the Eyre family. The younger sister of Vice Admiral Viscount Horatio Nelson, Catherine Nelson, had a son, George Matcham, who married Harriet Eyre in 1817. Admiral Nelson's elder sister, Susannah Nelson, had a son, Thomas Bolton, who married Francis Eyre. A heraldry report accompanies this item.
Each blade is hallmarked for London 1803 by Moses Brent.

In overall excellent condition with very light surface wear to the knives. The knives are heavy and made from a good gauge of silver, not usually seen in this size of knives. The blades have minimal wear and look unused. There are a couple of cracks to the mother of pearl but all the handles are fully secure. The 200 year old fitted case has a small loss to the front, but holds all of the knives securely.
