Victorian silver handled Kings Pattern dessert service for twelve persons in a fitted mahogany case with a blue velvet interior.
Each handle is hallmarked for Sheffield circa 1853 - 1862 by Martin Hall & Co. There is no date letter, but this particular Martin Hall maker's mark was only in use from 1853 - 1862. The hallmarks are applied to the collar section, but the handle and collar are one piece.
The blades and fork stems/tines are all silver plated and bear the maker's mark of Aaron Hadfield (sometimes Hatfield) & John Hand.
Condition is very good with no damage to any of the handles. There has been a nick repair to one knife blade and a resin repair to one fork stem where it joins the handle, as shown in the photos. The exterior of the case is very good, whilst the blue velvet interior is in good condition with moderate wear.
Approximate cased weight is 2.68 kilos.
Approximate case dimensions are 33.5 cm length, 26 cm width and 7.5 cm height.
Approxiate dimensions of one knife are 22 cm length and 1.8 cm blade width.
Approximate dimensions of one fork are 18 cm length and 1.8 cm tine width.
