Victorian silver coffee pot. Of bellied form, featuring a crest and motto to one side, with chased leaf and vine detail. The handle and knop are of ebonised wood. The domed cover is chased with leaf and vine detail.

The crest and motto are for the family of Elliot of Minto in the County of Roxburghshire in the Scottish Borders. They were created Baronets of Novia Scotia in 1700. It is likely that this coffee pot belonged to William Hugh Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, Viscount Melgund (1814 - 1891).  Educated at Eton & Cambridge and later served as an MP.

In excellent order with light surface wear commensurate with age. The item is free of dents, creases, split & repairs.

Hallmarked to the underside for London 1847 by R & S Garrard & Co. (Robert Garrard II) and featuring the retail stamp of Garrards, Panton Street, London. Garrard were the Crown Goldsmiths.

Approximate weight is 679 grams or 21.8 troy ounces.

Approximate dimensions are 24.5 cm height, 19 cm handle to spout length and 13 cm depth.
