Georgian, George III, Pair of Silver Entree Dishes on Old Sheffield Plate Warming Stands. The entree dishes and covers have gadrooned detail and removable loop handles with reeded and foliate decoration. The warming stand handles and feet are wooden.

Each cover with two armorial bearings. The earliest one is for Stopford impaling Wilbraham. This commemorates the marriage of Admiral Robert Fanshawe Stopford and Emily Wilbraham. He was the son of Admiral Sir Robert Stopford GCB, GCMG, who featured heavily in sea battles of the Napoleonic Wars. Emily, was the daughter of Royal Navy Captain William Wilbraham. Admiral R. F. Stopford would go onto become Commander-in-Chief, Channel Squadron. The later coat of arms relate to the Colman family. A detailed heraldry report accompanies these items.

Both dishes and both covers are hallmarked for London 1811 by John Houle. The handles are hallmarked but do not have a date letter. The rubbed maker's marks would appear to be for John Houle.

In very good overall condition with moderate surface wear and light scratches commensurate with age and for their use as serving dishes. The warming stands have a little copper bleed and have not been replated. The cover of one entree dish has had a repair to a corner and the last two photos illustrate this, with the very last photo being the inside view of the cover. One dish, cover and handle is marked with 5 dots, whilst the other is marked with 6 dots, indicating that they were part of a larger service.

Approximate weight of hallmarked silver is 3.379 kilos or 108 troy ounces.

Approximate total weight is 6.35 kilos.

Approximate dimensions on one entree dish and cover on its warming stand is 35 cm length, 22 cm width and 18 cm height.
