A William IV Silver Inkstand. Of shaped rectangular form with a raised entwined scroll and foliate border. Features two ornate cut glass inkwells, wafer box holder, taperstick holder and snuffer, with two pen recesses. The stand is raised on four outswept bracket feet.
Distorted and rubbed hallmarks for London 1837 by George Frederick Pinnell to the underside of the base, bottle caps, bottle receivers, wafer box, taperstick holder and snuffer.
In good condition. The cut glass bottles with very minor flea bit nibbles. The stand with two split repairs on the edge of the central raised surface (best seen in photos 10 and 11). This repair is seen as a rippled area on the surface. There is some clouding of the silver on the surface of the stand (photo 10) and one tiny hole within the maker's punch mark area.
Approximate silver weight is 482 grams or 15.4 troy ounces.
