Georgian, George III period, pair of Old Sheffield Plate armorial entree dishes and covers. Circa 1790 - 1810. The dishes and covers are of incurved cushion form with loop handles and reeded dish borders. There is a splendid coat of arms to each cover.

The armorial is the Marital Arms of Gresley and Garway, commemorating the 1796 marriage of Sir Nigel Bowyer, the 7th Baronet of Gresley and Maria Garway. A copy of the heraldic report will be given to the buyer.

In very good condition, with surface wear commensurate with age and their use as serving dishes. The loop handle of one cover has been re-attached at some stage and I have included a photo showing this. Copper bleed is mainly to the underside of the bases.

Approximate weight of both dishes and covers is 1.9 kilos.

Approximate dimensions of one dish and cover is 25.5 cm length, 21.5 cm width and 13 cm height.
