Substantial George IV Old Sheffield Plate Armorial Salver. Of shaped circular form with a raised cavetto border of shells and scrolls. Raised on four outswept shell and scroll bracket feet. The centre with armorial being the marital arms of Little & Keen. The field with later foliate engraving.

It is believed that this armorial commemorates the marriage of Edward Cullen Little and Mary Keen at Bermondsey, London in 1824. Edward Little's family were involved in the coopering trade, producing barrels. A heraldry report accompanies this item.

Marked to the underside with the twin sun mark for Matthew Boulton & Co, Birmingham circa 1820.

In excellent condition with light surface wear commensurate with age. There are a few very light pressure marks but no dents or splits.

Approximate dimensions are 54 cm diameter and 4 cm height.

Approximate weight is 4.5 kilos.
