An Edwardian Silver Plated Wine Cooler Presented to Lionel Nathan de Rothschild in 1903. Of campana form with a gadrooned upper rim and fluted lower body. The twin handles are reeded and leaf capped in the centre. Detachable rim and liner.

The inscription relates to a presentation on the occasion of the 21st birthday of Lionel Nathan de Rothschild in 1903. It was presented by the inhabitants of Wing, in Buckinghamshire, where the Rothschild family owned Ascott House.

Lionel Nathan de Rothschild OBE (1882 - 1942) was a British banker and Conservative politician. He is best known as the creator of Exbury Gardens in Hampshire. He was educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was not permitted to serve during World War One, as both his younger brothers had enlisted and he was required to carry on the family banking business. He described himself as " a banker by hobby ----  a gardener by profession".

In excellent condition with no loss of silver plate. Free of dents, creases and repairs.
