Barbara Palmer (nee Villiers), 1st Duchess of Cleveland (1640 - 1709), Bronze Portrait Medallion, After John Roettier. The medallion is uniface with some writing on the reverse and was first issued in 1670.

The Duchess faces right, hair drawn back from the forehead and twisted into a knot behind, an ornamented bandeau round the head; she wears drapery fastened upon her right shoulder with a small brooch.

The Duchess was best known for being a mistress of Charles II, bearing him five children. Charles II gifted her Nonsuch Palace in Surrey, which was later used to pay off her gambling debts. She ended her days at Walpole House in Chiswick.

Approximate weight is 148 grams.

Approximate medallion diameter is 6.3 cm.

Approximate roundel frame dimensions are 9.2 cm diameter and 2 cm depth.

The medallion in good, patinated, condition. The medallion sits a little loose in the frame. The rear stand to the frame will not support the weight of it.
