Lieutenant-General Sir Ralph Abercrombie (Abercromby) KB (1734 -1801), A Circular Brass Portrait Snuff Box. He was a Scottish politician and soldier who fought in The French Revolutionary Wars and the West India Campaign. He went on to become Governor of Trinidad and Commander-in-Chief Ireland and Scotland. He died on HMS Foudroyant, from wounds received during the Battle of Alexandria and is buried in St John's Bastion, Fort Saint Elmo, Valletta, Malta.
In good condition with some light pressure marks and loss of definition. The pressure marks are more noticable to the base. High surface wear resulting in areas of black pitting. The box dates to circa 1801.
