Selby Abbey Snuff Box, Made with Oak Saved From the 1906 Fire. The side of the snuff box engraved with 'Selby Abbey Oak'. The remains of a paper label to the underside 'Made from Oak saved from the Fire of Selby Abbey 20th Oct. 1906'.
The fire started in the night of October 19th and the wooden roof of the Abbey was destroyed, save for charred cross beams.
In very good condition with high surface wear, commensurate with wood salvaged from a fire.
Approximate weight is 27 grams.
Approximate dimensions are 6.4 cm diameter and 3.7 cm height.
