Late Victorian Pair of Silver Plated Sauce Boats. Each is raised on three shell capped hoof feet with acanthus capped scroll handles and a rope twist border. 

Each is crested for the family of Crossley, descending from John Crossley of Halifax. The family made their fortune in carpet manufacturing at Dean Clough Mills, Halifax. These sauce boats are likely to have been for Sir Savile Brinton Crossley (1857 - 1935). He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet of Belle Vue upon his father's death in 1872. He was created Baron Somerleyton of Somerleyton, Suffolk in 1916 and was also an MP. The heraldry report accompanies this pair of sauce boats.

Marked as EP for electro plate by T.H., probaly for Thomas Harwood & Sons of Birmingham.

In excellent condition with light surface wear commensurate with age. Free of dents, creases and splits. Loss of plate to the interior bases.

Approximate weight for the pair is 470 grams.
