Georgian, George III, large silver inkstand with pierced gallery. The inkstand is raised on four claw and ball feet. An intricate hand pierced gallery borders the inkstand and divides the inner section into compartments. The inkstand houses two dip pen ink bottles, a pounce shaker and a pounce bottle. There are further compartments either side of the bottle holders for storing dip pens. The base of the inkstand can slide out from under the galleried framework.

This is in excellent order for its age and the delicate nature of pierced galleries. There are slightly misshapen areas and evidence of a couple of old repairs to the pierced detail.  The bottle mounts are not marked and one bottle is slightly larger than the others. The glass bottles are in very good order with the odd minor nibble and chip.

Hallmarked to the underside for London 1770 by Robert Peaston. Further part hallmarked to the pierced gallery with the maker's mark of Robert Peaston.

Approximate silver weight is 629 grams or 20.2 troy ounces.

Approximate total weight is 1.83 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are 24.5 cm length, 167 cm length and 9 cm height.
