Georgian, George III, Old Sheffield Plate Galleried Inkstand, circa 1780 - 1800. Of small, oval form with an ornate pierced and reeded gallery, that is also repeated for the bottle holders. Features two cut glass bottles, one for pounce and a dip pen bottle.
In good condition with glass losses and chips, mainly to one of the bottles. Surface wear is moderate to high and commensurate with age. Most wear is on the main surface of the inkstand. Warm copper bleed showing on some of the pierced detail.
Approximate weight is 376 grams.
