Georgian, George III, Silver Inkstand. Of rectangular form with a gadrooned border and raised on four paw feet. The three bottle holders are of pierced, or open work, form.
The underside of the inkstand is hallmarked for London 1762 by William Robertson. Two of the three bottle caps are hallmarked for London 1796; the third is not hallmarked. None of the collars, or bottle holders are hallmarked, but it is not common for holders of pierced form to be marked.
In excellent condition with moderate surface wear commensurate with age. There are a few very minor nibbles to the glass bottles. One bottle cap with a very minor crease and tiny split, but not warranting any repair (penultimate photo). The stand appears to be free of dents, splits or repairs. These bottle holders would appear to be original to the inkstand.
