Georgian, George III, Silver Inkstand. The inkstand is raised on four ornate bracket feet with a gadrooned border richly detailed with scrolls and foliage. There are three original cut glass bottles (partly diamond cut) to store ink and pounce / sand. Two of the silver bottle covers have access for dip pens, whilst the third is a silver taperstick holder with silver snuffer.
The inkstand base, bottle holders, bottle covers and taperstick holder are all hallmarked for Sheffield 1817 by S. C. Younge & Co. Some of the makers marks are rubbed. The snuffer is hallmarked for Birmingham 1836 by Robert Mitchell.
