Provenance: Presented by the Royal Naval Division to Lady Gwendolen Guinness, Countess of Iveagh (1881-1966), married to Rupert Guinness, 2nd Earl of Iveagh. Later sold at the Elveden Hall auction by Christie's in 1984. Elveden Hall is the seat of the Earls of Iveagh.
The fund provided food, clothing and comforts to personnel held in enemy captivity.
Hallmarked to the body and cover for Birmingham 1917. The maker's mark is rubbed.
