Six George II Hanoverian Pattern Silver Tablespoons. Four with crests and two with Armorials for James Graham (1682 - 1742), 1st Duke & 4th Marquess of Montrose (Clan Graham).

He became a Duke in 1707 following his support for the Act of Union, while being president of the Scottish Privy Council. He previously held the office of Lord High Admiral of Scotland. James Graham was also Keeper of the Privy Seal of Scotland and Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland. Under George I he was Secretary of State for Scotland. He was also Chancellor of the University of Glasgow.

Distorted bottom struck hallmarks for London 1739 by Thomas Jackson I. All hallmarks have been photographed and would all appear to be the same year and same maker.

In excellent condition with light surface wear commensurate with age. Free of dents, splits and repairs. Good definition to the bowl tips.

Approximate total weight of all six spoons is 418 grams or 13.4 troy ounces.
