Georgian, George III, Matched Set of Six Regimental Silver Tablespoons for the East York Militia.

The East York Militia was a part time home defence force in the East Riding of Yorkshire. From its formal creation in 1759 the regiment served in home defence in all Britain's major wars until 1919. Under threat of French invasion during the Seven Years War a series of Militia Acts, from 1757, re-established county militia regiments. Initially raised in Beverley, the regiment was known as the Beverley Buffs. During the Napoleonic conflict the regiment was based throughout England, including many coastal locations.
