A George VI Silver Salver with Cypher for the Royal Artillery and Inscription for Lieutenant Colonel John Wesley Harper Gow OBE. Of shaped rectangular form with a raised and gadrooned border. The salver is raised on four claw and ball feet.
In 1945 he was awarded a Chevalier of the Order of the Crown with palm and Croix de Guerre 1940 with palm, for action in Belgium. In 1958, as a Brigadier, he was honoured for political and public services in the West of Scotland. He also held the office of Deputy Lieutenant.
In excellent condition with light surface wear commensurate with age.
Hallmarked for Sheffield 1944 by Thomas Bradbury & Sons. Features the London retail stamp of the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company.
